Remember this TV ad from Colgate? “Brush, brush, brush 3 times a day… Brush take the cavities away…Brush with Colgate… This is a very enticing jingle from Colgate for kids to promote their product while also helping children know how often they should brush their teeth. But the question is; Is it really necessary to brush your teeth 3 times a day? How often really should you brush your teeth? Is brushing enough for your oral hygiene or do you need something else? Are you safe from cavities if you brush your teeth often?

Follow a Healthy Diet
Often I hear my mother say, “You should eat fruits, vegetables which is good for the body. Avoid fat and watch your diet on red meat and other food that’s cooked in oil.” This just shows how my mother loves me because they want us to improve our general health and overall being. This is also true for the teeth.
If you want to have a healthy white teeth, avoid eating sweets like candies, donuts, chocolates, etc. because sweets contributes in developing tooth decay. Avoid junk foods and learn to start eating fruits, and vegetables. Also, drink plenty of water because it washes away sweets and other unhealthy substances in the mouth.
Develop a Good Oral Hygiene
How to have a good oral hygiene? First, Brush your teeth, floss it and rinse it with mouth wash. Do this at least twice a day.
Manual vs. Automatic Toothbrush
Now, the question would be would you be better with a manual or an automatic toothbrush? While everybody thinks that an automatic tooth brush cleans better, honestly when comparing the two, they are just the same. One thing though that separates the two is the automatic brush’s timer which can help you time your brushing for 30 seconds each quadrant and has an alarm which triggers after two minutes of brushing.
That’s all folks! Thank you for reading!
